Devices with baseline, mid-level or enhanced mid-level architecture provide a variety of different peripheral device combinations, which can be said to provide designers with flexibility and choices for applications. The PIC16F72 series of microcontrollers are based on Microchip's mid-level core, with an 8-layer deep hardware stack and 35 instructions. These MCUs can provide up to 5 MIP, 3.5 kilobytes of program memory and 128 bytes of RAM.
